Setting the combination of drums for a given prize amount


This document is a tool for foreseeing the future „drum” combinations of the CSANI investment platform with a drum visualization. Such foreseeing matters only when the amount of the prize (that we already know is going to show up on the drums) is concerned. The process of the drums stopping the spin consists of:

  1. setting the payment the investor will achieve, chosen by the structure of the option that the investor chose and the way the base instrument behaves during the drums spinning;

    1. and then – after the payoff is completed:

  2. stopping the drums in a way, that the payment from the drums is exactly the same as the payment of the option that just terminated its lifecycle.

This document explains how the combinations of the drums are chosen in a way, which makes their payment exactly the same as a payment achieved from an option. To explain this better, point 1) will talk about the markings of the icons, needed in the other part of this document; point 2) introduces the sequence of the icons on the “drums” using this marking and introducing new markings – ones that represent the position of the drum, allowing it to display in the program the configuration matching this position of the drum and that of the other drums. Finally – in point 3) we will explain how the “configurations” (the position of all the elements of the drums) are chosen for various prizes won.

1) Icon markings;

We introduce the following markings on the icons, displayed on the drums in the visualizations we use:

2) Markings of the drum positions;

Each of the “drums” represents a finite sequence of icons. When the drums spin, they display all of the icons in order, with the first icon coming again after the last one. So theoretically, once a drum starts spinning, it could keep on spinning forever. Below you can see the markings of each subsequent element from the sequence of icons on the drums, and the icons that correspond to these elements using the notation described in 1).

For each of the games, the displayed drum combinations can be represented by the amount of numbers that a visualization has. Those numbers represent the position of the drum, thereby showing three icons displayed in a combination. The first icon is the icon that’s on the same spot as the drum’s position, the next icon is the one that follows it, and the third (and last) is the one further after it. If one of the icons is the last icon on the drum, then the next icon after that is the first icon after drum (the one marked as “0”). Having the three icons chosen that way, they are displayed on the drum in this sequence: the first one is on the very bottom, the middle one is in the middle, the last one is on top.

Each subsequent option a user gets ownership of, has an „id” number attached to it. That number increases by 1 whenever every single next option is bought. In the investment platforms with the drum visualization, when they first start you can see the “CONNECTING...” text on the loading screen, meaning that it connects to the CSANI server. When the app connects to the server, the text changes to “LOADING...”, below which there’s the current value of “id” the user’s option shown, or the current value of an option he can purchase if he’s not currently owning an option. The next bought option will have this exact id, and every option following it will have the value increased by 1.

Each „id” and each amount of the prize won has one specific configuration of the drums assigned to it. Those configurations are catalogued in the boards available for download below. The drum positions listed there are corresponding to the notation described in point 2). In the files available below: if the number of listed „ids” in the table appropriate for the prize and platform is lower than “our” id, then we need to choose from the table an element that has an id equal to the remaining balance from dividing “our” id by the complete number of elements in the table. 4) The rules of assigning cards to the amount won and the ID of the transaction;

In CSANI investing platforms, in the full screen drums visualization, the user has an option to double each won prize by getting into ownership of the binary option. The user has two kinds of these options available to him:
  1. option CALL represented by the button „BLACK”;

    1. and:

  2. option PUT represented by the button „RED”;
The visualization of the options lifespan and the moment of the setting of the payoff is the “card panel”. When a payoff of an option is non-zero, the user sees a card of the same color as the button he clicked while buying the option (it symbolizes the prize), when the payoff is zero, then the card shown is of the opposite color (this symbolizes a loss):
  1. if the set payoff of an option is non-zero and it’s a CALL option (purchased by clicking the „BLACK” button), then the card presented to the user will be black („spades” or „clubs”), matching the color of the clicked button;

  2. if the set payoff of an option is zero and it’s a CALL option (purchased by clicking the „BLACK” button), then the card presented to the user will be red (“hearts” or “diamonds”), not matching the color of the clicked button;

  3. if the set payoff of an option is non-zero and it’s a PUT option (purchased by clicking the „RED” button), then the card presented to the user will be red (“hearts” or “diamonds”), matching the color of the clicked button;

  4. if the set payoff of an option is zero and it’s a PUT option (purchased by clicking the „RED” button), then the card presented to the user will be black („spades” or „clubs”), not matching the color of the clicked button;


For those criteria of choosing a card that the user will see, all that is left to explain is how one of the values from a “spades” and “clubs” pair is chosen, and how we choose one of the values from a “hearts” and “diamonds” pair. This is the used algorithm:
  1. for a „spades” and „clubs” pair, „spades” is chosen if the id of the transaction relevant to the option that was just executed is an even number, and „clubs” if it’s an odd number;

  2. for a „hearts” and „diamonds” pair, „hearts” is chosen if the id of the transaction relevant to the option that was just executed is an even number, and “diamonds” if it’s an odd number;

5) Choosing the visualizations and stakes in the „Actual Best Trades” view;

In the „Actual Best Trades” tab many different ways of presenting an investor with how much he’d earn if he’d enter an a CSANI option at any given moment are displayed. These ways, or methods, are represented by the following buttons, located on the bottom right:
  1. „USD index inside” (default by entering this tab);
  2. „EUR/USD inside”;
  3. „Full screen for USD index”;
  4. „Full screen for EUR/USD”;
  5. „Full screen for USD index with 1 second options”;

All this buttons make you go to a www page with an embedded JAVA applet, visualizing how much the user would earn, if he’d invest during the moments shown on the graph. In all these visualizations, among the options that “fit” (with their time of start and life cycle) on the graph, at least three are chosen that have the biggest ratio of stakes to payoffs. When more than one option gives the same ratio of the amount of payoffs to the stakes, and in the case of having to select a number of them that shows at least three options on the screen, instead of selecting them, all the options with the same ratio currently on the screen are “taken”, and more than three options are displayed on the screen. Options are usually chosen in a way that makes their lifetime “mesh”.

The payoffs presented as the method a) take in consideration all the options offered by CSANI based on the base instrument „USD index”, excluding the ones that last 1 second. All the options and their payoffs are presented in a way that, that makes them seem like they were purchased by an 10x (base currency) amount. The red color presents the time of lasting and the payoffs of the “PUT” option, and the green ones the “CALL” option.

The payoffs presented as method b) take in consideration the corresponding options mentioned in a), but they use them in relation to the base instrument EUR/USD. They’re also re-scaled in a way, that makes the payoff correspond to the use of a 10x (base currency) amount.

The payoffs presented in method c) are the same as the ones in method a), but presented on the full screen.

The payoffs presented in method d) are the same as the ones in method b), but presented on the full screen.

The payoffs presented in method e) don’t differ from the ones in c) aside from the fact, that the 1 second options are also considered, and not all of them are re-scaled to a payoff relating to the 10x (base currency) amount.
For each displayed option, the amount used for it is set in the following way. We take the number “x”, where:
    x = (A*10+B)*C*D + 1 , where:
  1. A - the time of purchasing the option (the time from which we start its lifetime) in seconds, starting at the midnight of January 1, 1970 UTC, rounded down to a full number;
  2. B – the number of tenths of second at the moment when the option was purchased;
  3. C – the time of the option’s lasting, in seconds (the time of its executing, minus the time in the moment of its purchase);
  4. D – the number of possible payoffs of options other than zero;

The payoffs presented in the method f) don’t differ from from the ones in method e), besides the fact, that they’re displayed on the second monitor – if the user has a second one in his computer.
